Australian Odyssey: 23 Days in the Delightful Down Under
Day 1: Departure from the US
Day 2: In Transit
As we fly across the Pacific Ocean, the excitement builds as we prepare to cross the International Date Line, marking the start of our adventure Down Under.
Day 3: Arrival in Sydney
Meals provided: Lunch
After a long couple of days of travel, we’ll keep things low-key today.
Arriving in Sydney in the morning, we’ll head to our accommodations either via car or train. A light lunch will be provided, then we’ll head out to explore Sydney’s stunning waterfront, including the iconic Sydney Opera House and the lush Royal Botanic Garden. We’ll enjoy a dinner out before heading back to our accommodations for the night.
Day 4: Sydney

Today is all about Sydney! We’ll join a 3 hour free walking tour through Sydney and will explore Sydney’s beginnings and development from its early days as a convict colony right up to the major developments that have made Sydney the world city that it is today! After the tour, we’ll make our way to Paddy's Market and do souvenir sho.
Feel free to wander with the group on the free tour or strike out on your own adventure.

Day 5: Blue Mountains
We’re off for a scenic drive to the breathtaking Blue Mountains. We’ll marvel at Echo Point and the Three Sisters, enjoying the stunning views and crisp mountain air.

Day 6: Blue Mountains to Canberra
We’ll hit the road to Canberra, Australia’s capital. After settling in, we’ll visit the Australian War Memorial and the National Gallery of Australia. Get ready to soak up some Aussie history and culture!
If that’s not your style, there are some other optional things you can do!
Day 7: Canberra
We’ll continue exploring Canberra, with visits to Parliament House and local markets. Enjoy the tucker (food) and the vibrant atmosphere.

Day 8: Canberra to Tathra & Merimbula
We’ll drive to Tathra, taking in the scenic countryside. Visit Tathra Wharf and sample fresh seafood at local cafes – it’s a ripper spot for a relaxing day.

Day 9: Tathra & Merimbula
A laid-back day in Tathra, we’ll spend this day enjoying the beach and the serene environment. Perfect for unwinding and taking in the coastal beauty.
Day 10: Tathra to Pebbly Beach
We’ll drive up the coast to Pebbly Beach, where you can spot kangaroos lounging on the sand and enjoy the tranquil vibes. We’ll continue up to Kiama, where we’ll see the Kiama Blowhole.
Day 11: Kiama to Wollongong
We’ll cruise up the coast more to Wollongong, visiting the Wollongong Botanic Garden and Wollongong Beach. Don’t forget to snap some pics – these spots are true blue beauties!

Day 12: Wollongong
While camped in Wollongong, we’ll take a day trip to some surrounding towns (Bowral, Thirlmere, and Picton) that offer the authentic Australian experience.
Day 13: Wollongong to Sydney
Today, we’ll head back to Sydney, where you’ll have the evening to explore more of the city or relax at your accommodations. We will join The Rocks walking tour this evening.
Day 14: Sydney to Gold Coast
Meals provided: Breakfast
We’ll make our way to the airport and take a flight to the Gold Coast in Queensland. We will stay in Surfers Paradise and enjoy this popular tourist area for many Aussies on vacation.
Day 15: Tamborine Mountain
In the morning, we’ll make our way to Tamborine Mountain. Where we’ll enjoy the Gallery Walk.. There are many unique shops, restaurants, and scenic views up there, it will be a full day of exploring in the rainforest.

Day 16: Surfers Paradise
A day in Surfers Paradise, exploring the beachfront markets and visiting the Skypoint Observation Deck. It’s a top spot for soaking up the sun and sea.

Day 17: Australia Zoo
Get ready to meet some Aussie wildlife at the famous Australia Zoo. It’s a full-day experience that’s sure to be a highlight of the trip (included in your tour price).
Day 18: Hervey Bay
It’s a long drive, but we’ll continue our way up the coast and arrive at Hervey Bay, the base of the Great Barrier Reef.
Day 19: Hervey Bay
Today we will stroll along the Esplanade, and explore the local markets. It’s an excellent place for a relaxed day by the sea.

Day 20: Hervey Bay
Another day to enjoy Hervey Bay’s beautiful beaches and relaxed atmosphere. You can walk the Urangan Pier today, we can take a drive up to Maryborough where you can visit the Mary Poppins statue, and we can make our way up to Bundaberg to explore that area! If you’re interested in an optional tour of the Bundaberg Rum Distillery we can linger there!
Day 21: Hervey Bay to Sydney
We’ll head back to Sydney for our final days in Australia. Enjoy the evening at your leisure. Your guide will be heading out on an evening Sydney stroll to enjoy the lights, sights, and sounds of the city. You can join your guide or head somewhere on your own or with some new friends from the tour group!
Day 22: Sydney
Meals provided: Breakfast & Dinner
It’s our final day together! We’ll take this time to catch any last activities we wanted to do before leaving Sydney and will take time in Paddy’s Market for some serious souvenir shopping opportunities!
We’ll finish with dinner together as a group and reminisce about the incredible journey we've shared, the breathtaking landscapes we've explored, and the unforgettable memories we've created. As we reflect on our adventures, we'll celebrate the new friendships formed and the lasting impressions of Australia's beauty and culture.

This tour requires a minimum of 4 travelers and will accommodate up to 5 people, including the guide.
Travel Documents
Ensure you have a valid passport.
Most countries require your passport to be valid for at least six months after your return date and have at least two consecutive blank pages.
US and Canadian citizens must obtain a VISA or ETA (Electronic Travel Authority) for Australia before travel. Detailed information on obtaining the necessary visas will be provided after final payment.
Air Travel Arrangements
Please hold off on booking flights until the trip is confirmed (once the minimum number of people have signed up). SueQ Travel will then send out the dates and times for in-country arrivals. Once you have booked your flights, forward your itinerary to groups@sueqtravel.com.
Travel Insurance
Travel insurance is not included in the tour cost. It is your responsibility to choose the amount and type of coverage needed to recoup your travel investment in case of cancellation, inability to complete the tour, or operational issues. Refer to SueQ Travel Terms & Conditions for details on payment procedures if the tour cannot operate.
SueQ Travel is not licensed to sell travel insurance. Highly recommended providers include Allianz Travel Insurance and TravelGuard.
Luggage Guidelines
Travel lightly, as most travelers regret overpacking.
You may bring one suitcase plus one personal item (i.c. backpack or purse).
All airlines enforce their own baggage policies. You are responsible for any excess baggage fees.
Be prepared to handle your own luggage everywhere you go. This could include trains, busses, or taxis.
There is limited space in the vehicle for large loads of luggage.
Fitness
Suitable for travelers who are comfortable with moderate physical activity. This tour involves regular walking, possibly including some uneven terrain or stairs.
Approx. Walking Distance: 2-4 miles per day. (Walking tours, visits to multiple attractions, short hikes.)
Health Standards
Australia has excellent health and hygiene standards. No specific vaccinations are required, but ensure routine vaccinations are up-to-date.
Staying Connected
Contact your cell phone provider about international plans, as most carriers offer flat daily rates.
Manage data usage by using WiFi and communication apps like WhatsApp.

Adapters and Voltage
Purchase a universal adapter that supports various sockets/plugs. Verify your electronic devices' voltage requirements, as many countries operate on 220V or 230V. Most modern electronics are multi-voltage; consult your owner's manual for details.
Cash and Cards
Budget for meals, snacks, drinks, shopping, and tips. Carry some cash for splitting bills and smaller purchases.
Notify your credit card issuer about your travel dates.
Use ATMs for cash, but be cautious as foreign countries may limit daily withdrawals. Know your PIN for both debit and credit cards.
Credit cards are widely accepted, but be aware of foreign transaction fees. Choose local currency for transactions to avoid conversion fees.

Australia uses the Australian Dollar (AUD).
Tipping
You are responsible for tipping wait-staff, porters, or other service providers at hotels or public locations. Tipping is not expected in Australia, but a tip exceeding 10% is considered extraordinary for exceptional service.
Consider tipping your SueQ Travel Tour Leader $8-$10 per day for outstanding service, but this is entirely a personal preference.

Final payment due 90 days before travel.
Monthly payments can be set up.
If you have signed up for the trip and it is confirmed (meaning, we have the minimum number of travelers to go), you will be responsible for the entire tour amount even if you cancel.
This is part of the reason why travel insurance is so highly recommended!
