When I first came across the name "Albertville," my expectations didn't lead me to the southern landscapes of France. Surprisingly, I initially thought of the Southern USA, and as it turns out, there's an Albertville in Alabama; but I've not been there. I have had the pleasure of exploring the charming Albertville in France, and it truly is a delightful place.
A Touch of Albertville History
Nestled in the Savoie department within the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of southeastern France, Albertville sits in proximity to both the Swiss and Italian borders. Its origins trace back to its establishment by King Charles Albert of Sardinia, lending the city its distinctive name. Notably, Albertville gained international recognition for being the host city of the 1992 Olympic Winter Games.
