Charleston Restaurants: Circa 1886

Our rating: 5 stars

Reservation required: Yes

Dress code: Business casual

Price:

Expensive. It was two of us and we spent well over $200, but I don't have the exact amount.

Service:

Good. The food came out at perfect intervals. The only disappointment was the drinks would get low and wouldn’t be topped up as fast as other places we’ve been to. The table wasn’t cleaned off as quickly as other places we’ve visited. None of these things affected our overall enjoyment.

Our waiter was excellent at explaining the dishes, he exuded a love for food and the menu options. He found true enjoyment out of his customer’s love for the food.

Food:

Unbelievable. Josh did a tasting menu and I went a la carte. Every dish was perfectly paired. Every bite was a masterpiece of flavors colliding together. By far the best food flavor experience we’ve had in Charleston.

Atmosphere:

Great atmosphere. Classy and quiet. Romantic. The only thing it was missing was live stringed instrumental music, but it was still very nice.

*UPDATE*

I've been back to Circa 1886 at least twice since this first experience and I have been blown away each time.

They have got flavors mastered. Absolutely incredible. Highly recommend.
