Our rating: 3.5 stars
Reservation required: Yes (I believe so, to ensure a seat)
Dress code: Dressy casual
Price:
We had a sweet tea, lemonade, a beer, two starters, an entree each (they had a kid’s menu our son ordered from), but no dessert. With the tip included, we paid $180 for the three of us.
Service:
Slow. Incredibly slow. Thankfully, our food was always hot when it arrived, but we waited a very long time between getting our drinks and ordering our starters.
The starters came out pretty quickly, but then our regular meal took a long time (almost 30 minutes) to arrive.
After finishing our meal, we waited another 20 minutes just to be asked if we wanted dessert. We were going to stay for dessert, but decided to skip it because we’d be waiting till morning.
It then took an additional 10 minutes to get the bill. At that same time, we had asked for a burger to get boxed, and the waiter accidentally threw it out, so he had the kitchen make a new one, which took another 20-or-so minutes.
Overall, not impressed, but we think it might just have been our particular waiter.
Food:
Sweet tea
Excellent. Close to the best we’ve ever had.
Sautéed Mussels chorizo, leeks, tomatoes, garlic, beer, toasted baguette
over powered by the sauce
Dill Pickle Deviled Eggs Spanish paprika, dill pickle slice
You get 3 half eggs… for $9 and I could make them taste the same at home. Nothing special about them.
Grilled Filet Of Beef melted pimiento cheese, herb potato cake, grilled Roma tomatoes, asparagus, madeira demi-glace
Fantastic. Meat cooked to perfection. I wasn’t a fan of the pimiento cheese, but it wasn’t terrible
Shellfish Over Grits sautéed shrimp, sea scallops, creamy white grits, lobster butter sauce, fried spinach
Wasn’t as good as good as expected. Josh is in a search for the best shrimp and grits and this doesn’t even make the top 5.
Kid’s burger
Incredible! Best thing we ordered that night! Super juicy! HUGE! Very filling for a child.
The homemade chips lacked flavor
Atmosphere:
The atmosphere was lovely. A romantic setting, but a bit loud. I couldn’t hear any nice music or anything.
