Charleston Restaurants: Slightly North of Broad "SNOB"

Updated: Sep 24

Our rating: 2.5 stars

Reservation required: Yes

Dress code: Dressy casual

Price:

  • Too expensive for what you get. We paid ~$185 for all three of us to eat, a beer, a lemonade, and a soda (which included the tip).

Service:

  • The service was great. We had an excellent waiter who was very attentive.

Food:

I had:

  • butternut squash bisque (which was very good)

  • 8oz beef tenderloin (cooked to perfection, but placed on a spicy sauce that I had to separate my meat from)

  • Creme Brulee (good)

Josh had:

  • Some sort of shrimp bisque but it wasn’t listed on this menu (it was very good)

  • 8oz beef tenderloin (unique because of the avocado puree on the top)

  • Chocolate Pot de Creme (literally, a pot of chocolate mousse (Josh really liked it because it’s very bitter, and he likes that type of chocolate. If you want milk chocolate - that’s not it.)

Aden:

They had a kid’s menu! He was able to get pasta shells, fruit, and creme brulee for dessert. He was a happy chappy.

The food was fine, but not extraordinary and and we felt it was truly overpriced for what you get on your plate.

Atmosphere:

When we booked our reservation for “SNOB” we checked out the menu ahead of time and even made it for restaurant week where we could get a 3-course meal for $55 each. Looking at the rest of their menu, that was a pretty good deal.

For the atmosphere, we were expecting high class, or at least - classy. Sadly, it lacked class, was very tight, and fit the “snob” profile with the servers being quite snooty.

Overall, we weren’t impressed and left full, but not stuffed (which was fine for us), but the atmosphere didn’t fit the expensive menu.
