Itinerary

Just Jane Itinerary: Bath & Beyond

Day 1: Flight to London

  • This shall be a day of travel, whereupon you may embark upon an overnight flight to London, with a rendezvous scheduled with the group in the early morrow upon your arrival.

Day 2: Arrival in London

  • Arriving betimes in London, you shall rendezvous with your esteemed travel companions, embarking forthwith in the carriage towards Steventon, England—the hallowed birthplace of Miss Jane Austen.

  • The morn shall be devoted to the exploration of the Jane Austen House, wherein Miss Austen resided from 1809 to 1817, and Chawton House—the final dwelling of our esteemed authoress. Within the hallowed halls of Chawton House, Miss Jane penned and perfected her six cherished novels, rendering it the most revered Austen site in the world. (Rest assured, both museums are graciously encompassed within the inclusive fare of your journey.)

  • We shall pause at Winchester Cathedral, the sacred abode where our dear Jane found her final repose.

  • In the morrow, we shall not forego the spectacle of the Regency Promenade. Thus, we shall adjourn to Bath with the eve approaching, making ready for our morning perambulation in the charming streets of Bath!

Day 3: Bath - Jane Austen Festival Festivities
According to the Jane Austen Society:

Jane Austen moved to Bath in 1801 with her parents and her sister Cassandra when her father retired as Rector of Steventon. The family lived at 4 Sydney Place till 1804 and then at 3 Green Park Buildings East where Mr Austen died in 1805. Following his death, Mrs Austen and her daughters moved first to Southampton and then to Chawton in 1809. Two of Jane Austen’s novels, Northanger Abbey and Persuasion, are partly set in Bath. Mr Elton, the Vicar of Highbury in Emma, took himself off to Bath following his rejection by Emma Woodhouse and returned to Surrey betrothed to the woman who was to become his wife.

  • The forthcoming Jane Austen Festival of 2025 finds its epicenter in the charming city of Bath, our chosen abode throughout our sojourn in England.

  • The inaugural revelry of the Jane Austen Festival commences with a splendid Grand Regency Costumed Promenade gracing the thoroughfares of Bath. Guided by the authoritative call of a town crier, we shall leisurely traverse this exquisite cityscape for approximately an hour, culminating our promenade at the Festival Fayre. Pray, be attired in the Regency fashion to partake in this grand procession. (This promenade is graciously encompassed within the comprehensive fare of your experience.)

Day 4: Bath - Jane Austen Festival Festivities

  • Embarking upon the cobbled streets of Bath, we shall partake in a bespoke Jane Austen walking expedition led by a seasoned local guide. Wander through the city's historic thoroughfares, tracing the footsteps of Austen's characters amidst iconic locales from her revered novels. (Kindly note, this discretionary excursion is not incorporated within the established journey, thus costs will be ranging from $35 to $150, contingent upon the chosen perambulation.)

  • The day henceforth is bestowed upon your leisure, granting opportunity to delve into the manifold offerings of Bath and partake in sundry festivities enlivening this esteemed occasion.

Day 5: Jane Austen Festival Festivities

  • This day shall persist in the enchanting confines of Bath, wherein the morning shall unfold our exploration of the Jane Austen Centre Museum. (Entry is graciously encompassed within the comprehensive fare of your journey.)

  • Together, we shall indulge in the delightful tradition of 'Tea with Mr. Darcy' within the Regency Tea Room.(Pray be advised, esteemed guests, that Mr. Darcy's distinguished presence shall not grace our assembly in person. Alas, no restitution shall be granted, for your company is the truest reward, and Mr. Darcy's personal greeting remains a delightful fiction of our literary expedition. On the bright side, rejoice, for this charming illusion is graciously included in your esteemed package price.)

  • As the day unfolds, the festival spirit shall infuse Bath with myriad activities. This afternoon, we shall partake in the merriment of festival festivities, immersing ourselves in the lively ambiance that Bath shall graciously bestow upon us.

Day 6: Drive to the Cotswolds & Stratford-Upon-Avon

  • Bath, nestled at the foothills of the Cotswolds, England's largest expanse of natural beauty, shall be our gateway to the picturesque charm of honey-colored limestone abodes in idyllic villages. Our travels shall traverse these quaint hamlets, culminating in the renowned Stratford-Upon-Avon, where we shall pause for a moment at the birthplace of the illustrious William Shakespeare. (Optional, yet incurring no additional cost.)

  • The day's flow, contingent upon the vibrant Bath Festival Festivities, shall determine our sojourn to the Cotswolds—whether it be in the morning's embrace or the afternoon's allure.

Day 7: Bath’s Literary Delights or Steventon and Stonehenge

  • Forenoon exploration to the Roman Baths shall grace our day, followed by a refined afternoon repast at the esteemed Pump Room.

  • The evening, as the sun begins its descent, shall unfurl with the gift of leisure, granting each esteemed guest the liberty to revel in the Festival Festivities that adorn the enchanting ambiance of the Jane Austen celebration.

  • Should you so incline, we extend the gracious offer of a carriage ride back to Steventon, Chawton House, and the Jane Austen Museum, presenting a golden opportunity for further exploration and discovery.
A stop at The Vyne, an ancient country seat with roots tracing back to the Tudor era. Originally crafted for the esteemed Lord Chamberlain of Henry VIII, this fine Tudor mansion witnessed the graceful footsteps of Austen as she partook in dances and imbibed the nuances of social etiquette. It is within these hallowed halls that Austen's inspiration for the social intricacies depicted in her novels found its genesis.

  • Upon our homeward journey, a brief pause awaits us at Stonehenge, offering a momentary visit to this ancient marvel.

Day 8: Bath or London

  • You may opt to remain in Bath, immersed in further merriment of Jane Austen's festivities, should they continue to grace the charming cityscape. Or, a leisurely day is bestowed upon our esteemed company for an excursion into London. Though our journey may not rival the duration of our dear Jane's, it promises to unveil some of the same vistas that once graced her discerning eyes in days of yore.  (This is a discretionary engagement.)

Day 9: Lacock Village and Box Hill

  • Lacock Village - In the morn, we shall embark upon a delightful exploration of Lacock Village, an idyllic locale that graced the cinematic canvas in the 1995 Pride and Prejudice adaptation. In the cinematic rendition, this charming street served as the village of 'Meryton.' For those acquainted with this particular adaptation, the familiarity with this street shall evoke a sense of cherished connection, having witnessed its allure unfold on the screen through numerous viewings..

  • Journey to Box Hill, a locale immortalized in the pages of Jane Austen's novel Emma as the setting for a pivotal passage. Traverse the landscapes that once inspired Austen's literary brushstrokes, capturing the essence of a significant moment in her timeless work.

Day 10: Bath - Grand Regency Ball

  • Partake in the elegant dance tutorials preceding the Grand Regency Ball, where grace and refinement shall be honed in preparation for the evening's splendor.

  • Attend with anticipation the pinnacle of our soiree, the Grand Regency Ball, the date of which shall be disclosed in due course, promising an evening of enchantment and festivity unparalleled.

(Kindly note that Windsor Castle is not included in the predetermined fare of your journey and shall entail an additional cost for admission; however, transportation to the Castle is included should you desire it.)

  • As eventide descends, we shall gather together to revel in the culmination of our expedition, preparing to bid adieu and make our way homeward to the States.

Day 12: Departure

  • We shall rise early and commence our journey to the airport for flights leaving at different times through the day.
